Gayle Cook, who along with her husband Hall of Fame charter member Bill Cook, founded what has become one of the leading medical device companies in the world. Besides their medical device company Cook Inc., the Cooks have been community activists in revitalizing Bloomington with many restoration projects including Graham Plaza and most of the south side of the downtown square. Restorations of the West Baden Hotel, French Lick Springs Resort and Casino, and in Canton, Illinois (Bill’s hometown) were among Gayle and Bill’s many projects outside of Bloomington. Gayle has been very active and supportive in the Monroe County History Center’s many projects, among many other philanthropic endeavors.
