Lloyd Williams Olcott

Lloyd Williams Olcott served four terms on the Bloomington City Council, 14 years on the City Parks Board, and assumed many other roles with key community boards and organizations. Olcott graduated from Butler University and came to Bloomington in 1947 where he managed the University Outdoor Advertising Company starting in 1949 until it merged in 1969 with Hoosier Outdoor Advertising. He was Vice President and Sales Manager for Hoosier Outdoor Advertising until his retirement. Olcott was an Air Force veteran and served during the Korean War. Olcott's community service was recognized in 1998 when a new 40 acre city park next to Jackson Creek Middle School was named in his honor. He was also a leader in the renovation of the Shower’s factory which would later become Bloomington City Hall.
