William "Bill" Hanna

Bill Hanna (1927-2015) Soon after returning to Bloomington in 1947 after his military service in World War II, Bill Hanna traded in his wife's car to buy two used dump trucks from his former employers. With that humble start William K. Hanna Trucking began. Since those early days the company has provided trucking services to central and southern Indiana from local driveways to Interstate highways and construction sites. His family continues to operate the company to this day. Along with his business interests, Bill served as a Monroe County Commissioner from 1968 to 1980 including serving as president during his tenure. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #446, Monroe Masonic Lodge #22, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine Temple and was also a member and Past President of the Stone Belt Shrine Club. He was also a member of American Legion Post #18 in Bloomington. He sponsored youth sports and provided free loads of gravel and sand to any church or organization making a request. Bill Hanna did his part to both serve and build his community.
